Hello My Name Is...

Lea Jones
5th Grade Writing/ Science Teacher

My name is Lea Jones.  This school year will be my 9th year teaching at Sweetwater Elementary.  I have a great passion for teaching and I work hard to engage students in learning through high-energy and hands-on lessons to help students reach their fullest potential.  I love my job and believe so strongly in the power of education.  My daily goal is to make my classroom  a happy, safe, and fun place to learn. I have high expectations that all students that enter my class will show academic growth no matter what their starting point is.

 I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I also have a Master's Degree in Reading and Mathematics Curriculum Instruction from Walden University.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, watching movies and shopping.  Most of all, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I have a wonderful husband of sixteen years and two beautiful children. My son is 17 and my daughter is 10 years old.

Working with children, on a daily basis, is both a passion and a privilege.  I am thrilled to be a part of the Knight family.  I am looking forward to many more years of teaching the brilliant students at Sweetwater Elementary!
