Club Description: Gracket is a game combining the aspects of baseball, stickball, and cricket. It is a non-contact sport using a tennis ball and either a dowel-stick or tennis racket, between two teams of 5 to 10 players. The game is played in a 9 inning/1 hour time limit format, after which the team with the most runs wins.
Purposes:
- To promote good sportsmanship through teamwork, common sense, and fair play
- To promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle
- To compete in a non-contact sport for recreation and for the development of the game
- To build self-esteem derived from trying to the best of one's ability, regardless of outcome
- To build strategic thinking skills and allow for new ideas
- To practice coordination and motor skills necessary to run, catch, throw, and hit
Constitution and Bylaws: Students must maintain good grades in class, exhibit good behavior, and have good attendance at school. Students must have signed permission from parents, as well as proper transportation home, in order the participate.
Games: Instruction and games will be held once a week (exact day to be determined) from 3:30-4:30 in the back of the school on the field. In case of rain, games will be held in the gym.
Membership: Open to 20, 3rd-5th grade boys and girls, selected by skills, experience, and availability
Potential Fees: $8 for t-shirt
Materials Needed: T-shirt, shorts, running shoes, hat, and bottle of water
