Summer P-EBT:

P-EBT

On December 20, 2022, the Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Family & Children Services began issuing Summer P-EBT. These benefits cover the 2022 summer month time frame for free and reduced meal program eligible children.

Please remember that students are considered eligible for summer P-EBT if:

  1. Student was enrolled in a K-12 Georgia school for School Year 2021-2022
  2. Student was approved as eligible for free or reduced priced lunch through the National School Lunch Program.  Student free and reduced school meal eligibility was determined based on 1) student receiving SNAP/TANF benefits; or 2) has been determined to have categorical eligibility based on district identified homeless, migrant or runaway status; or 3) a free and reduced meal application was submitted for the student and approved by the School Food Authority, which would have been confirmed by a letter of eligibility determination being sent to the parent/guardian confirming the approval.
    1. NOTE: School meals were served at “no cost” due to COVID Waiver flexibility during School Year 2021-2022. This DOES NOT mean that students receiving school meals at “no cost” would be considered as “free eligible” students and so they would NOT be considered eligible for Summer P-EBT benefits (such as systems utilizing SSO programs).
  1. For schools approved as Community Eligibility Provision School or a Provision 2 School that serves both breakfast and lunch under Provision 2, the students that were enrolled as of May 2022 in that school, could be eligible for Summer P-EBT 2022 benefits.
  2. School meal eligibility may not be applied for retroactively by parents or guardians so unfortunately free or reduced status eligibility for School Year 2021-2022 had to be applied for and approved for eligible students by June 30, 2022.
Please contact:  Douglas County School Nutrition  770-651-2300 if you have any additional questions or concerns
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
